The “T” in C-A-T stands for TRUST

As Bellamy trains to become a therapy cat, I've learned that the most important part of the journey isn't teaching skills—it's building trust.

Trust is the foundation of every strong human-animal bond. It grows when we respect a cat's boundaries, provide consistency, and create an environment where they feel safe.

A therapy cat can't offer comfort if they are fearful or stressed. The best therapy animals aren't simply well-trained; they're confident enough to share their calm presence with others.

Some days Bellamy's training involves new experiences and socialization. Other days it means sitting quietly by the window watching birds. Both are important because both strengthen trust.

When people interact with therapy animals, they're responding to something genuine—a relationship built on safety, connection, and trust.

That's why I believe the "T" in CAT stands for trust.
